Dia de los Muertos or the Day of the Dead is a Mexican Holiday that typically runs thru October 31 thru November 2nd. Some people think it is a version of Halloween. Though they are similar in the aspects of dress ups and decorations, Dia de los Muertos demonstrates respect for deceased family members and friends. Flowers are planted, graves are tended, and prayers are offered up for those who remain. Halloween is often associated with fearing the dead whereas the Day of the Dead celebrates the dead.
