Donors Choose Whitley East Elementary

This week, Whitley East Elementary library was awarded a grant for $426 by the organization Mr. Adkins, the librarian, had applied for the grant in November after learning about the organization from Whitley County Director of Technology Kevin Anderson. 

"At the time, I just considered a wish and a dream," commented Mr. Adkins, "I was at home with free afternoon and decided to create a Christmas Wish List for the library and all of the new programs we want to offer at Whitley East. I was completely surprised when I received an email from the organization that a single donor from Pennsylvania had chosen to fully fund a project I described in an essay. The project actually includes a new selection of books for the library and a learning kit to teach students how to code programs with robots. I know the kids are going to love it because I feel like a big kid imagining the possibilities these tools offer."
