Whitley Central Intermediate School

Read Across America

Whitley Central Intermediate School celebrates Read Across America Day.  This day is also known as Dr. Seuss Day, a yearly observance in the United States inaugurated by the National Education Association.  This day is held on the school day closest to Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  Theodor Seuss Geisel was an American artist, book publisher, animator, poet, and well-known author.

Dr Seuss is best known for whimsical children’s books like The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, just to name a couple.

During the week, WCIS had many guest readers from our community, as well as our district.  Classrooms studied books written by Dr. Seuss learning which book he wrote first and a little trivia knowledge about his accomplishments.
