WCIS Celebrates Red Ribbon & Safe Schools Week

Rock Stars!

Rock StarOctober 21st through the 25th is a busy week for WCIS as we recognize and participate in two important campaigns which promote health, community, success, and safety.

Red Ribbon Week is a national call to action campaign focusing on supporting healthy choices.  The theme this year was “Send a Message. Stay Drug Free.”  The theme is a reminder “that by staying drug free, you are sending a message to yourself and others about how much you value yourself, your overall health, your community and your future.”

Safe School Week is a collaborative effort between Kentucky schools and the Kentucky Center for School Safety.  This year's theme is “Our Safety Story…Pledge…. Kindness-Unity-Empathy.”  During the week students pledge to be strong enough to show empathy, tolerance, kindness, and encouragement to promote a feeling of community and friendship through my school.

Photographed are students who are definite rock stars throughout the year, not just during Red Ribbon Week.  These students and many others dressed to support KINDNESS ROCKS!! In a world where you can be anything, be KIND!  Dress up as a Rockstar for You Rock Day!
